Cynamonowiec (Cinnamomum verum) jest to gatunek drzewa, który należy do rodziny wawrzynowatych, rośnie w lasach tropikalnych i dorasta do 12 m, liście ma jajowate o barwie ciemnozielonej. Najbardziej znanym gatunkiem jest cynamonowiec cejloński oraz cynamonowiec wonny zwany chińskim. Surowcem wykorzystywanym w przemyśle jest kora i liście cynamonowca.
